I am so delighted you are here.

My name is Nathalie and Once Upon a Hill Studio is the home of my mixed-media art and illustrations.

I am based in south Dublin and sell my original work, prints and cards in local galleries and pop-up shops. I also run creative workshops for adults and children. 

The countryside with its wildflowers and seasonal rhythms and the storybooks of my childhood continue to influence and inspire my creative process, style and expression to this day.

I love the versatility of the mixed-media process, with its potential for layering and playing with pattern, texture and colour; it conveys the intricacies and wildness of nature but also the whimsical and simple elements reflected in the illustrative style of children’s picture books.

One of my favourite techniques is gelplate printing using foraged botanicals in combination with my own stencils and illustrations. Alongside plants and flowers, I also love incorporating materials that I find in my home and natural environment into my work and workshops.

Themes of connection and belonging seem to always pop up in my work and I take great joy in representing little characters navigating imaginary landscapes.
